With the support of our team, plan your day so it flows naturally from one setting to the next – ensuring guests always have a fresh new space to ‘wow’ at throughout the day.

Outdoor spaces

Be it for your ceremony or afternoon/evening reception, the gardens and grounds at Tullyveery provide a stunning setting. Be it the intimate Walled Garden or the stunning views from the Front Lawn, there is something for everyone. Of course we have to work with the weather on the day which is why we have our covered garden area – The Orchard Garden.

The Walled Garden provides an enchanting and relaxing space for your guests to mingle during your reception. It is also quite the suntrap but luckily the planting provides plenty of shade should it be needed. Also, the Orchard Garden is just next door should a larger covered space be required. This means that if there is a skiff of rain, guests can be hosted in the Orchard Garden and spill back into the Walled Garden when the shower has passed. Our team will ensure this happens seamlessly and guests will think it was all part of the plan for the day! Ice cream carts, garden games and caricaturists – the Walled Garden is the perfect setting to host those ‘little extra’ elements you would like to add to your day to make it extra memorable. It is hard to convey the feeling of relaxation and contentment that the Walled Garden provides without experiencing it for yourself. The Walled Garden has a bandstand for music as well as hard-standing for your drinks and food service to be based at. We also provide garden tables, linens and chairs. There is a mobile PA system which you can use for background music or to do your speeches in the garden.

Tullyveery House Walled Garden — Walled Garden

The Orchard Garden, available from mid-April to mid-October, is a perfect companion space to the Walled Garden. With a large covered area, to protect guests from excess sun or any skiffs of rain, the Orchard Garden is surrounded by flowering shrubs, roses, and of course the apple/pear/plum orchard. The elevated outside edges to the canopy ensure guests still feel immersed in nature. The same band space, tables, chairs, and PA system that are available in the Walled Garden are also available in the Orchard Garden. Only opened for use in 2024, the Orchard Garden provides a wonderful new space for couples and their guests to enjoy, and allows further flexibility to work around whatever the weather may be on the day.

The Courtyard, as well as providing access to the indoor reception rooms, is also a popular outdoor reception option. In the evenings the festoon lights and brazier create a great relaxed party atmosphere. Surrounded by a cloister to provide some shade should it be needed, and with the adjoining snug rooms, the Courtyard space provides an excellent daytime & evening option for any weather scenario. The bandstand can be used for live music or, with the heaters on, provides a cosey place for guests to sit. As the party comes to an end, the Courtyard can also be used for your big sparkler send-off.

The Front Lawn has stunning views out over the drumlins of County Down, and a walk down to the swing will afford your guests views of the Mourne Mountains in one direction and Strangford Lough in the other. With the Georgian manor house as a back drop, there really is something special about the Front Lawn. Mostly used for ceremonies, group photos and couple’s photos, it can also be used as a location to greet and gather your guests in advance of your ceremony, or as a full afternoon reception space.

The Summer House Garden is a more intimate space – particularly stunning in spring and early summer when the mature rhododendrons are in bloom. On colder days we will light the log fire in the Summer House, allowing guests somewhere cosey to sit and admire the view for a few minutes during the day.

Indoor spaces

The indoor reception spaces are concentrated around the Courtyard area including a large dining/reception/dance room, a smaller dining/reception room, restrooms (including a fully accessible restroom), snug sitting room, bar space and an additional sitting/dance room.

All of these spaces will be available to use as you wish, with any spaces not being used as part of your day being roped off to keep guests together. There is a balance to be struck when providing reception rooms for guests to use – it is important, for example, during the evening dancing to provide guests with a quieter sitting room to enjoy; however you do not want them to be apart from the main party. The layout of the courtyard rooms is perfect to provide separate spaces which aren’t separated – guests sitting in the snug will be able to hear the music and feel part of the party in the bar or Courtyard area, while still being able to converse easily and have a seat on a comfy sofa. All indoor spaces are accessible through step-free routes (including the ‘upstairs’ rooms).

The largest room within the venue is the Courtyard Dining Room; capable of dining up to 137 and hosting up to 215 for the evening party. We have a range of different sized round and long tables, allowing real flexibility with your seating plan. This room has direct access to the bar and adjacent large catering kitchen, ensuring both your drinks and food service it efficient. The main stairwell at the end of the room provides a stunning entrance route for when you are being introduced into the room for dinner.

The Loft Dining Room can dine up to 45 guests, with the adjoining Garden View Room extending this to 80 guests. Although ‘upstairs’, this room is accessible via a step-free route and boasts its own outside area (the ‘Barn Hill’) that can be used for food vans, or just a quiet spot to sit. Having its own dedicated kitchen ensures food service is on-point and the original wooden beams add such character and charm to this very light and bright space. These rooms have had many uses over the years including as a crèche where a Wedding Nanny looked after several babies, allowing their parents to party away and check-in with them as and when they wanted/needed. This space will does provide that flexibility to ensure whatever idea you have can be accommodated.

The Chaff House Bar, handily accessible from both the outdoor Courtyard area and the Courtyard Dining Room itself, is styled as a traditional Irish pub, and of course Guinness is on tap! You are able to provide your own wine for your meal and fizz for toasts (no corkage fee) and the bar team will provide the remainder of your days beverages. The bar team can also provide a no-alcohol drinks service should that be your preference. During your afternoon reception, the bar team will bring the bar to you – with a drinks table set up wherever in the grounds you are hosting your reception.
